Shopping near the Colosseum in Rome

Shopping near the Colosseum in Rome

Shopping near the Colosseum in Rome you can get many souvenirs like small Colosseum statues, Roman helmets, books, pencils etc… I would say souvenir articles and that’s it. There aren’t any fancy shops for clothes or shoes. Most of the places you can buy from are stands in the middle of the street or Piazza or vendors walking around with different articles.

On the top of the steps, towards the hop on –hop off bus walking away from the Colosseum, Roberto a friendly Roman souvenir stand owner stopped me and asked if I’d like to see how the Colosseum used to look like in the old days…have a look at the picture I posted and you can see for yourself the big difference! By the way you can buy this booklet…

Down at the bottom right next to the Colosseum you have other small shops that sell fantastic gift for kids: they sell Roman Gladiator helmets and wooden swords! Would make a real great and original Halloween costume! You can find a wide range of colorful postcards to choose from for your friends and family who stayed at home. For all you cooking fans: buy yourself a Roman cooking apron!

Some stands sell books and DVD’s in every language you can think of. It would be a good idea to give it to someone that would be planning to come over!

I also found this cute little stuffed animal that looks like a little devil!

If your suitcase is already full, just buy something small to put on the fridge like a magnet or a little statue to decorate your living room!

If you’re able to read Italian, they have plates with funny Italian slogan on them! A real laugh! You could also buy something useful from protecting you from the sun: fashionable hats!

Last but not least: MY FAVOURITE! Have your picture taken with a real Roman Gladiator!

For all you ladies and of course men that are in to fine Italian leather, I found a shop called

Handmade  leather goods in Via di S. Giovanni in Laterano, 94 – Rome

They sell beautiful different colored bright purses, wallets and much more for a reasonable price! The purses vary from big to small and with all the colors you have to choose from, you should get a matching set: handbag, wallet and key chain for yourself or as a present. The quality of the leather is good and touching the leather it’s pretty soft. Now all you need of course is a matching pair of shoes…
