Hotel Bretagna

Hotel Bretagna is located at the bank of Arno River and just a short walk from the historic Ponte Vecchio and the Uffizi Gallery. It is about a ten-minute walk away to all that Florence has to offer as well as lots of shopping and restaurants. If you are coming from train, the Santa Maria train station is also a ten-minute walk.

Hotel Bretagna is a very charming three star hotel. The main reception is up a two flights of stairs. It offers a beautiful old style decor throughout the hotel that will make this a unique stay.

The staff working the reception desk is exceptionally helpful, friendly and welcoming. They speak English and are always with a smile. They will definitely help you find restaurants you want to go. And they are very receptive to recommend places you should visit. They will be more than happy to arrange tickets for the Accademia Gallery, Uffizi Gallery or other museums you might want see.

The owner of Hotel Bretagna offers guests to attend a tour given by an anthropologist who is local to the area. He will talk about the histoy of  Florence and the history of the hotel.

The rooms are nice and very clean. They range from small to quite large. They are cozy and nicely decorated. They are furnished with antique furniture and a satellite television. The beds have extra foam that make them much more comfortable. The bathroom is clean and modern. It comes with a hair dryer and the many toiletries. Some rooms do not come with a private restroom, so when you are booking you should ask if it does.

There is a small lounge area, where the hotel provides complimentary tea and fresh cakes as an afternoon treat.

A small balcony off the reception area is great for taking pictures of the views to the east that include the picturesque Ponte Vecchio. It is also a great place to sit and enjoy your morning coffee. Hotel Bretagna offers free Wi-Fi and a rich breakfast buffet. The breakfast has a great choice of different foods that includes fresh croissants and coffee, along with toasts, tea and yogurt. The catering staff is just tremendous here. They are ready to assist at anytime.

All rooms are of a good size. Some of the rooms have beautiful frescoes ceilings. You pay a little more for a room over looking the Arno River. It is the ideal room but they are limited.

If you are traveling by car, don't forget to ask the hotel about parking arrangements. They don’t provide parking on site. They will assist you with the parking garage. Parking fees are not included in your hotel bill. The charge for a small vehicle is 25 Euros per day. But it ensures that your car will be safe. Parking fee must be paid in cash to the attendant who brings your vehicle.
