Bed and Breakfast Relais del Duomo is located in the heart of Florence. It’s located in a strategic position of the center of Florence on one of the tiny streets that run parallel to the Piazza del Duomo. It is just a few steps from the Duomo and pretty much within 5-minute walk to the major museums and monuments of Florence. It’s about 10 minute walk from the Santa Maria Novella train station. This lovely B & B is surrounded by a lot of shops, restaurants, bars and cafes.
Bed and Breakfast Relais del Duomo is situated on the first floor of a historic Florentine palace built in the early1700’s.
The owner Giuseppe is very welcoming and charming despite the language barrier. Elizabetta is a wonderful host and very helpful in answering questions. She is very friendly and speaks excellent English. She will be more than happy provide good tips on the city, directions and making reservations.
Bed and Breakfast Relais del Duomo only has four rooms. There are two doubles and two singles. They were recently restructured. The furnishing is completely new and has a classic and sober taste of Florence historic center's palaces. The rooms are small but very clean and everything equipped. They are provided with air conditioning. There is a small TV with multiple cable channels as well. There is a small fridge and a safe. Free Wi-Fi is available to the guests.
The private bathrooms are brand new as well. It has a small but a strong shower. They provide a hair dryer and complimentary toiletries.
Continental buffet breakfast is served in a lovely dining room. They offer cold cuts, cheese, bread, fruit and fresh baked goods. They also have juice, tea and coffee. It is all prepared and served by Angel, a very friendly young man who will make the best cappuccinos to order.
Bed and Breakfast Relais del Duomo is located on top of an Irish pub. The music can be a bit loud. The rooms have double windows that will block some of the noise. The bells on the Duomo ring every 15 minutes starting at 7am. It can be problematic if you are trying to sleep in.
The owner Guisseppe doesn't live on the premises. So you will need to give him an estimated arrival time so that he can be there to meet you and give you your keys. There is a sign on the front door of the building with a phone number to be called in emergency.
Guisseppe has a deal with a nearby garage which charges about 24 Euros per night for secure covered parking. You can walk there in five minutes.
If you're looking for a no frills B&B close to the Duomo for a reasonable price then Bed and Breakfast Relais del Duomo should be a good choice.
