Hosteria Isidoro Restaurant Rome
The street Via di San Giovanni in Laterano has many caffe's and restaurants. I'd like to mention this one because of a particular reason! Italy is very well known for pasta! Well, here in this place they’re specialized in it! First of all you get a special plate which is already divided to fit three different kinds of pasta…
A minimum of two people are required to have this type of menu and you can choose up to 10 different kind of pasta dishes!! All different…from pasta with fish to pasta with meat or vegetables. The portions are very generous in this place and the prices are excellent. To give you an idea; 10 “assaggini” (means “a taste of”) for euro 20/person. Three “assaggini” of pasta is euro 9.00/ person.
A restaurant dedicated to pasta!
I went to the Hosteria Isidoro Restaurant Rome for lunch with my son Carlo: His favorite is of course pasta and so he had a plate of "pasta al pomodoro" pasta with tomato. I had "stracchetti con funghi porcini" veal with porcini mushrooms. Just to give you an idea: a big bottle of mineral water, a pasta dish, my veal with porcini mushrooms, a small plate of spinach as a side dish and a basket of bread was euro 26.50.
The desserts looked so inviting and believe me the temptation was enormous! The smell of the fresh strawberries almost made me fall over! Every plate is prepared on the spot when ordered.
I had a look in the kitchen when I was taking pictures of my friendly waiter! The owner, a cheerful lady originally from the south is very thoughtful with her clients. I saw how she goes around the tables to ask her clients how they feel and if they like the food.
What I really appreciate about this place is that you can see the kitchen through a big glass window and everything is clean.
At this point I’d also like to mention that the Hosteria Isidoro Restaurant Rome isn’t where it should be. Walking down the street on your right you see number 58 and of course one would think 59 is right next to it, right? Wrong. The streets are more than 600 years old and the numbers aren’t logical. Just keep on walking down the street starting from the beginning where the Colosseum stands, walk by the church “Basilica di San Clemente” on your left, continue for about 20 meters further down on the same side and you’ll bump into the number 59a!
