Restaurants Near Sorrento Cathedral

La Basilica Restaurant

A five minute walk from Sorrento Cathedral.

Charming restaurant situated down a little side street in the center of Sorrento. Food is fantastic, as is the atmosphere and attentive wait staff. They have inside and an outdoor courtyard area for dining. The menu is extensive, and has an unique variety. Pasta sampler; lasagna, gnocchi, and ravioli is excellent. Seafood specialties such as snapper, calamari or mussels are fresh and cooked perfectly. Definitely worth a try. Roasted duck served with potatoes and vegetables is also a big hit. They also serve some excellent pizzas. Too many desserts to mention, all seem well prepared and delicious. There is a guitar player wandering around between the tables. Just tell him your favorite song, and he will gladly sing for you. Like most of the places in Sorrento, prices are a little high. However, they serve high quality food in proper portion sizes. A must if you are Sorrento, you will not be disappointed.

Parrucchiano Restaurant

A two minute walk from Sorrento Cathedral.

Parrucchiano is located on the main street of Sorrento, very close to the Cathedral. It is a lovely restaurant that has a stunning location, a delicious authentic Italian food and wine to go with it. Inside there is a huge indoor dining area. Outside dining is set in a garden, with with lots of flowers, orange and lemon trees as cover. The seating area is surrounded with stringed lights and candelabras. The menu is large and varied. The food is excellent, with very generous portions and reasonably priced. The house red and white wines are very good. Family run business. They say this is where the cannelloni (pasta baked with a filling, and covered by a sauce) was first created. The service is attentive, nothing is too much trouble. Definitely a must at least once during your vacation.

A two minute walk from Sorrento Cathedral.

L'Antica Trattoria is centrally located and has indoor/outdoor seating. They have many tasting menu options, including a vegetarian and vegan tasting menu. If you are stopping by for lunch, try the prix fixe lunch menu. They offer many main course choices, including seafood pasta, risotto, steak, and fresh mussels. The wine selection (reasonably priced) is terrific and dessert is good as well. Service is first rate. Staff are very professional and attentive and carry out their job with a smile. And most of them speak very good English. It is a bit more expensive than some others, though the food is very good and well presented. For the best experience make reservations ahead of time, so you can have a table on the garden terrace. A must visit for anyone looking for an exquisite Italian seafood meal in a beautiful setting.

Bar Gelateria Il Duomo

A one minute walk from Sorrento Cathedral.

Bar Gelateria Il Duomo is centrally located on the main street of Sorrento. It is a wonderful shop, with a vast selection (around 30) of amazingly good gelato. They only use fresh natural ingredients. And they start from scratch, every single day. The fruit flavors are made without dairy (strawberry, peach, lemon, banana, etc) and with fruit bits inside. Oreo, cheesecake and limoncello are fan favorites. All of them are fantastic. Cuban chocolate (rum and chocolate) is incredible. They also offer gluten free gelato and cones. They are very accommodating and friendly. Reasonably priced. They have a nice seating area outside where you could sit and watch the world go by.
