This is what makes Rome one of the most splendid and mysterious cities in the world! Rome also has the world’s smallest State inside the city which is the Vatican, famous for having one of the most envied Museums with the greatest art treasures of all time!
Now, think about the Gladiators and lions fighting in the Colosseum for their life while over 50,000 spectators were cheering and one man, namely the Emperor decided over life and death by showing his thumb up or down! Rome will thrill you with incredible facts and amazing history!

I’m taking my family to Italy during the summer of 2014. We will be first time visitors in Rome. We will be there for 12 days. Our family is into history, food and wine. What is the best area to stay, we would like to be quite central to shops, restaurants and sightseeing. I would really appreciate you sharing your knowledge of Rome with us, so that we can make the right choice. Thank you!
Hello Anthony!
I would stay in the center part of Rome near Piazza di Spagna or Piazza del Popolo. You’ll be near the best Italian and International fine shops! If you like great food and wine, don’t forget to visit the Enoteca in Via della Croce, 76B.
