The location of Hotel Duomo is perfect. This three star hotel is situated right beside the Duomo and is within a ten-minute walking distance from all major attractions. It is also close to a number of restaurants, world class shopping and the train station.
Sophia, Francesca, Frederick, and the rest of the staff are able to communicate well in English. They are friendly, very helpful and efficient. They will be happy to make you reservations for dinner and museums.
The rooms are a decent size (by European standards). They have been updated. They have nice hard wood floors and are very clean. They are well equipped (toiletries, hair dryer, mini fridge, flat screen TV, safe) and well maintained each day. The bathrooms are remodeled and loaded with fresh towels daily. Terraces are available in some rooms.
Hotel Duomo offers a small bar and lounge area. Their breakfast is very tasty with plenty of variety. A continental style breakfast is offered daily including cold cuts, assorted cheese, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, bacon, sausages, fresh bread, pastries, yogurt, fresh fruit, juice, coffee/teas. It is included and is totally worth it.
Wi-Fi is available in Hotel Duomo and is free of charge.
Hotel Duomo only has one elevator to the hotel lobby (fourth floor) and steps to the rest of the floors beyond the lobby. It only fits two people at a time.
They close the gated entrance at night. But the staff is available 24 hours and can buzz you in instantly if you choose to stay out late. It can be a bit noisy at nighttime with the street and Piazza del Duomo being so close. And in the morning you will hear the bells from Duomo go off at 7:00 am.
